June 15, 1958 - Wade Anthony Boggs is born in Omaha, Neb.
1976 - Boggs graduates from Plant High School and marries his high school sweetheart, Debbie Bertuccelli. After being drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the seventh round, he signs his
first pro contract and then spends six years in the minor leagues.
1982 - Boggs joins the Boston Red Sox.
1983 - Boggs wins his first American League batting title.
1985-1988 - Boggs wins the AL batting title four years in a row.
July 25, 1985 - Boggs reaches a personal-best hitting streak of 28 games.
1992 - Boggs joins the New York Yankees after the Red Sox opt not to re-sign him.
1994 - Boggs wins his first of two consecutive Gold Gloves for third base.
1996 - Boggs wins a World Series with the Yankees, riding a police officer's horse during the on-field celebration.
1997 - Boggs signs up with the expansion Devil Rays.
Aug. 7, 1999 - Boggs collects his 3,000th hit, a home run at Tropicana Field. After circling the bases, Boggs falls to his knees and kisses home plate.
November 1999 - Boggs retires with 3,010 hits. He becomes an executive with the Devil Rays as assistant to the general manager.
October 2001 - Boggs resigns from the Rays' executive staff.
Jan. 4, 2005 - Boggs is elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
